Overview

Seattle area think-tank is hiring an Associate Editorial Director on a permanent basis. This position is ideally hybrid (onsite 2x per week). Open to fully remote candidates (USA only) if candidate can travel to Seattle frequently (approx every other month for up to one week at a time). 

Working in partnership with others on the editorial team, the Associate Editorial Director will research, report, and write content, articles, social copy, and speeches. Some projects will take months to complete, while others will need to be done in a day. 

Experience with speech writing or ghost writing for corporate or political leaders is preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

-Write articles and speeches for the Principal's personal blog, associated social channels, and other outlets, adeptly handling edits and feedback from internal colleagues and external collaborators
-Stay immersed in the breaking news, op-ed pieces, white paper publication, upcoming events, and history of global health, global development, U.S. education, energy/climate, Alzheimer’s Disease, philanthropy, and other fields of interest to the Principal and the organization
-Collaborate in the creation of campaigns, programs, and marketing concepts that meet the business objectives of the organization and use new channels for storytelling
-Work with designers to build engaging visuals that compel audiences to think, feel, and act
-Seek to remain authoritative in online and social media trends to find ways to improve and expand the company presence

Qualifications:

-Superlative writing ability combined with a high degree of passion, integrity, and energy
-Proven experience writing for high-profile leaders or several years of experience as a writer for a well-known news outlet
-Significant skill in helping innovative thought leaders communicate
-Demonstrated effectiveness meeting deadlines in a role requiring continual attention to detail in writing and proofreading material
-A solid understanding of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit and creative online editorial experiences
-Ability to deliver strong creative concepts across a variety of editorial areas with limited input
-Willingness to live in the Seattle area or work remotely and make frequent trips
-Comprehensive background investigation including criminal, public records and credit checks will be required.
