Overview

Our leading insurance client is seeking a talented UX Visual Designer Manager!  As a digital UX brand steward, the Manager, UX Visual Design strategizes, creates, and manages clear, consistent, and engaging UX experiences. You ensure visual design consistency across the customer journey, lead multiple digital projects simultaneously, and design delightful and engaging experiences that help drive bottom-line business results. You’ll work across a broad range of customer experiences and touchpoints, including branded websites, software and product development, online sales channels, mobile, email, and other digital content.

The UX Visual Design Manager supports the overall creative objectives by ensuring consistent brand usage, and visually communicating brand continuity throughout the Customer Experience. You tackle complex topics and ideas in ways that are user friendly, intuitive and aesthetically pleasing. Using design thinking and keeping the user at the center of everything you do, you’ll collaborate with UX Designers, UX Visual Designers, UX Content Designers, UX Researchers, business owners, and technologists. You’ll work within an agile framework to create human-centered UX Visual Design solutions that utilize customer insights, data, legal, and other stakeholders’ input.

All applicants should provide work samples, with proper consideration of copyright restrictions. The applicant should be able to speak to their visual design philosophy and be aware of UX Visual Design trends. Applicants who cannot provide work samples will not be considered.
 

What you’ll do:

  • Manage a team of 6 visual designers, guiding them toward project success and achieving career goals.

  • Design beautiful and smart responsive web and native mobile solutions that delight our customers.  Shouldn’t be too UX design centered, instead seeking a true Visual Designer - details of user interface, colors, typography, making sure everything is pixel perfect and on brand.

  • Ensure design consistency and quality across multiple digital channels.

  • Prioritize visual design work across program areas.

  • Set and measure key performance indicators for UX Visual Design work.

  • Understand and interpret brand and business needs and transform them into innovative, creative, and results-oriented digital solutions.

  • Lead and provide guidance to team members to set performance expectations and ensure design follows best practices, optimizes messaging, and is technically feasible.

  • Create and iterate visual design deliverables as Lead Designer.

  • Collaborate with our multidisciplinary UX team to design a variety of compelling user experiences.

  • Use data and research to evaluate UX Visual Design’s impact and derive customer insights that will help us solve our biggest customer problems and show real business results.

  • Work with and gain approval from other stakeholders.

  • Serve as brand ambassadors and owners of the client's digital branding.

  • This job has supervisory responsibilities.
     

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher focused on Graphic Design and UX.

  • Seven or more years as a digital UX Visual Designer, or equivalent in highly collaborative environments and at least 3 years of management experience. 

  • Experience working with a cross-functional UX team.

  • Familiarity with agile development processes.

  • Training or experience using human-centered design techniques.

  • Mastery of best UX Visual Design best practices.

  • Expert level knowledge of website and product UX development cycles and activities.

  • Deep knowledge of people and project management.

  • Expertise in human-centered design techniques.

  • A relentless focus on the user.

  • Proficient in planning and executing a variety of UX Visual Design methods. 

  • Comfortable applying UX Visual Design within a variety of design methodologies and processes (Agile, Lean UX, etc.). 

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to collaborate closely with peers, managers and stakeholders across disciplines and at all levels throughout the organization.

  • A smart, solid portfolio that demonstrates how you think.

  • Mastery of Sketch, Figma and/or Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills – able to quickly build rapport, establish credibility, and work collaboratively with peers, managers and stakeholders across disciplines and levels.
