Director of User Experience

Our client, an incredible global company, is seeking a Director of User Experience, to lead the design of Products and Platform, managing a global UX team, consisting of 50+ researchers and designers, spread across their global Software Development centers. This talented individual will be working closely with Product Management, Engineering, and teams across our Products and Platform teams.

As a Director of UX, you will drive initiatives that make our products intuitive, usable, and desirable for people, leveraging product design as a differentiation, while also meeting the business needs. They need a visionary, a great collaborator, someone with attention to detail and awareness of the product design ecosystem, that can help deliver delightful UX experiences for end users. Someone who is passionate about leveraging user-centered research and design methods to solve complex business problems and deliver industry leading products and offerings, with a keen eye on end user needs. 

This role works across various lifecycle stages, from initial definition to continuous enhancement, as they integrate user-centered design into the development of multiple offerings, working with multi-disciplinary products and business teams across the platform. You will lead UX strategy, research, and design for all software products. You will guide UX researchers and designers in creating, executing, and synthesizing various types of user research studies to discover user needs, in line with the product strategy and roadmap. You will also lead UX team members to leverage user research findings, combined with knowledge of UX best practices, agile development principles, design standards and business needs, to develop artifacts (wireframes, mockups, UX flows, design guides, etc.) that will shape the design of their offerings. As a leader of the team, you will provide UX thought leadership and play a leading role in guiding and developing our team of skilled UX researchers and designers, and as key contributors to the platform lifecycle.


• Leverage UX deep expertise to drive user experience approaches for products during conceptualization, research, design, validation and implementation phases of the product lifecycle, creating a fine balance between research and execution.

• Monitor broader industry user experience trends, with a keen eye on creativity and aesthetics, and bringing those ideas to bear on products and Platform. 

• Lead the Platform UX function to ensure consistency of design and user experience across the Platform. Be the key driver of user delight, shaping meaningful interactions and bringing coherence across the Platform.

• Lead the Platform design systems, ensuring consistency of experience across the Platform (products, assets, apps) through leadership and oversight of the design standards. 

• Partner with Product Management team to inform product strategy and innovation, bringing in research and design excellence as a key differentiation, creating positive business outcomes. 

• Partner with Engineering team, as part of the broader (Agile) Product leadership, to ensure design deliverables are in line with design standards, product vision, end user expectations and release timelines.

• Partner with Product leadership, business teams, and clients to articulate target user groups (as distinct from buyers) for their software; ensure that those users’ needs, behaviors, and key tasks are well documented and consistently supported across their portfolio.  Provide nuanced guidance on key end-user segments and needs and preferences as needed.

• Manage the wider UX team, empowering them to create the best-in class user experience, through user research, refining of business features, user flows, wireframes to creation of high-fidelity designs. Assigning UX members to individual product lines and ensuring Agile best practices are being followed for timely Product releases.

• Spearhead the User Experience best practices and adherence across Products by strengthening the User Experience team through grooming junior team members, creating of new thought leadership, and more. 

• Create, socialize, and implement user Experience strategies for the company Product Portfolio, e.g.  Advisory Boards, user experience measurement, and other means of providing empirical data to inform product strategy. 


• Bachelor's or master’s degree in design, human computer Interaction, Human Factors, Anthropology, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field, with demonstrated use of these skills to software.

• Product industry background, shipping multiple releases of UX-rich B2B/B2C offerings is a must

Required Skills:

• 12+ years of experience as a UX/UI expert, with 4+ years managing UX teams of designers & researchers, including Managers in a product company.

• Experience growing mature UX teams (Information Architecture, Research, Visual design, design systems, usability, and A/B testing, etc.)

• Experience within the healthcare industry is a plus.

• Strong leadership: excellent team management, coaching and mentoring skills; superior planning, process and influencing skills. 

• Good presentation and communication skills (both verbal and written) including experience and level of comfort presenting concepts to senior executives

• Demonstrated ability to be an effective change management leader for their direct reports

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with design of Enterprise B2B SaaS solutions is required; experience in launching new web and mobile based solutions (hybrid, iOS, Android) is highly desired.

• Experience with solutions targeted for sales and/or marketing organizations as well as an understanding of sales and marketing business processes is preferred.

• Experience with analytics solutions (e.g. decision engines, high volume batch processing, process orchestration, AI models) is preferred.

• Awareness of Platform ecosystem as it applies to design (common landing page, multi personas, hybrid roles, same-side and multi-side networks, etc.).
