Type: Hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days remote)
Location: above Reston Metro Station 

As the Senior Public Sector Product Marketing Manager, in our Reston, VA office, you’ll be instrumental in the daily activities and strategy of our public sector marketing, sales, and sales engineering team. Working closely with the Public Sector Marketing Director, and public sector sales and SE management, the Senior Public Sector Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for federal, state, local, and education specific product positioning, public sector content creation, providing feedback on public sector needs and positioning back to product marketing and product management, persona input and development, support of public sector certifications, public sector sales enablement, and more.  Both the strategy and the daily execution in this role should be grounded in a deep understanding of the technical and business issues facing public sector IT and IT security professionals and how the our products help solve these problems.     



  • Extensive content creation for use across a variety of channels – webinar content, whitepapers, presentations, blogs, video scripts, website content, sales enablement tools, case studies, collateral, social media postings, messaging documents, and more
  • Become a domain expert on public sector government use of network management, systems management, security information and event management, and database management products, from how the products work, to how they stack against the competition and how public sector organizations use them
  • Evangelize the products, and how our products address industry trends/needs, to public sector IT and IT security users through webinars, events, presentations, social media, etc.

Work closely with the Public Sector Marketing Director to:

  • Grow the public sector business by increasing product awareness, consideration and evaluation of our products
  • Work across marketing, product management, product marketing, sales, PR, and channel partner teams to ensure public sector awareness, pipeline, and revenue growth
  • Conduct market research on the public sector market and competitors, including win/loss analysis to develop positioning, personas, messaging, and sales enablement tools
  • Be a voice of public sector, along with public sector sales, SE and marketing management to the product pillar teams, understand the product’s performance in the market, and recommend shifts in public sector strategy and tactics to the team
  • Work as part of the public sector marketing team to develop compelling lead generation campaigns for products, partners, and market segments
  • Develop public sector specific sales tools that support the full customer lifecycle of our product from selling, closing to expansion and retention
  • Assist in researching and training the public sector marketing, SE and sales teams on relevant public sector IT/IT security industry trends
  • Work with product pillars and the public sector team to plan and execute public sector specific product launch activities
  • Support common criteria and public sector certification activities along with public sector management team
  • Knowledge and experience in public sector IT market, and in IT management and monitoring (networking, systems, etc.) technologies     



Desired Skills & Experience

  • 4-8 years product marketing, product management, technical evangelist, technical sales, or sales engineering experience
  • BA/BS, MBA or equivalent on the job training preferred
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Combination of product and marketing experience
  • Thrives in a collaborative work environment
  • Combination of strategic vision and tactical project execution, with an organized approach to project and program management
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to handle multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to parlay every effort or asset into a variety of assets and tools for the team
  • Strong analytical acumen
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities for driving business results across a matrixed organization, without formal authority
  • The ability to work closely with the public sector team in Reston and remotely with the public sector and marketing team members in Austin and Lehi
  • Familiarity with Pragmatic Marketing framework, or Pragmatic Marketing trained preferred
  • Willing to travel as needed to events
