Job Description

Director of Content CHI

You will be responsible for:

  • Build thought leadership content and unique messaging across the portfolio of companies in support of PR and social media efforts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to produce a wide variety of content including blog posts, social copy, whitepapers, website copy, podcasts, etc.
  • Establish a workflow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content. Work with product and engineering teams to implement appropriate CMS.
  • Manage a robust content calendar that includes all external communications, content, timing and ownership across functional teams. In addition, execute ongoing content audits and optimize strategic touchpoints accordingly.
  • Evangelize content strategy and insights throughout the organization. Develop and implement creative assets and best practices to ensure content is consistently and effectively positioned across all channels and touch points.
  • Influences all facets of content development: Planning, creation, approvals, editing, publishing/activating, repurposing, promoting, tracking, measuring, maintaining
  • Seamlessly pivot between three distinct worlds: 1) Business (understanding and respecting objectives of the diverse portfolio companies across); 2) Ideation (rapidly conceptualizing feasible, engaging content); 3 Production (creating and delivering content as a member of the Creative Team)
  • Ensure SEO strategies all well developed, content is optimized, and rankings are consistently analyzed to ensure maximum efficiencies and impact.
  • Leverage analytical insights to determine the optimal allocation of marketing resources across various collateral types and channels in support of strategic content priorities.
  • Conduct ongoing usability tests to gauge content effectiveness. Partner with owners of specific content to revise and measure related marketing goals.
  • Continuously maintain and build an intimate level of knowledge of different portfolio personas and what motivates them. Map content needs and marketing strategies to each portfolio persona.
  • Produce compelling storytelling across written, audio, and visual media.
  • Showcase best practices by producing content in multimedia formats (e.g. videos, podcasts, article write-ups) featuring compelling stories from portfolio company CEOs, executive team leaders, key personnel, etc.
  • Build, lead and develop a high performing team to deliver results. Clearly communicate strategy, recommendations, and results to internal leadership. Influence decision-making across a matrixed organization
  • Monitor trends, issues, and topics that matter to Portfolio companies to create relevant insights
  • Lead and develop look, feel, and tone of voice of the candidate
  • Proven ability to balance long-term visioning with immediate needs
  • Drives best practices, continuous improvement and provides recommendations for content innovation


  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, English, Marketing, Communications or related field
  • 7+ years’ experience with brand strategy, content strategy and content development
  • 7+ years’ experience in brand marketing, advertising, marketing communications
  • Deep knowledge of SEO strategies and tactics
  • Expert knowledge of CMS platforms and solutions
  • Proven experience in developing, executing and managing content plan development to successful execution. Experience producing content across a range of formats e.g. written, visual, hybrid, live/event-based both on and offline.
  • Proven experience using narratives and storytelling to build strong loyalty for iconic or heritage consumer brands-- ideally with some experience in a B2B2C capacity.
  • Understanding of what it means to work in a regulated industry with preferred experience developing content and shepherding this content through a compliance process.
  • Strong results orientation, with a proven desire and ability to think strategically and creatively, coupled with financial acumen and strong analytical/problem-solving skills and bottom line P&L management.
  • Excellent communication skills; articulate, influential and strong public speaking and writing skills, effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence, capable of getting various functional team members to reach a common goal without relying on direct reporting lines.
  • Strong business acumen coupled with strategic analysis experience. Preferred experience within financial services or fintech more broadly.
  • Team player and collaborator with all internal/external stakeholders, with experience successfully leading teams, whether directly or indirectly.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize and strong project management skills
  • Motivated self-starter and ability to work under pressure without daily guidance.



  • Expert level knowledge of Adobe creative cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Prior experience building a content strategy from scratch, serving multiple brands
  • Collaborator: ability & proven track record working with other creatives & disciplines. Ability to work well with internal & external partners, while staying organized and energized
  • Work across all types of platforms such as: website, landing pages, blog posts, whitepapers, social media, newsletters
  • Create content that can serve brand marketing efforts as well as content that improves SEO
  • Provide creative direction, ensure that creative solutions are appropriate for the targeted audience, meet specific criteria, reflect brand standards & are consistent with strategic marketing goals
  • Ensure that all content maintains a high standard in quality
  • Maintain high level of knowledge about products, positioning, benefits and features as well as a detailed understanding of distribution
  • High energy and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Works well under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Strong relationship development and negotiating skills; able to earn respect and trust among internal and external business partners and team members.
