Role is completely remote (everyone is) but would like them to be boston based so that as they're live doing user research.
Ideally this person will have experience with growing tech companies - especially ones that have both an online and offline experience.
Key challenge right now is: How do you ideally engage prospective students both online and offline, what other opportunities are they missing?
In order to effectively improve our prospective student experience, we need to first better understand the following: the primary prospective student persona(s), the prospective student journey inclusive of feelings, questions, expectations and needs, feedback on the current experience to understand what’s working and what’s not working and a review of how we measure up against competitors and what our key differentiators are that we should lean into further.
Research Output (in order of priority):
Persona development - Identify prospective student personas that exist today; Identify personas that are not currently prospects that could/should be.
Journey maps - Develop robust user journey map(s) for personas identified
Generative research - Develop rich data set about your target audience (people’s lives, environments, behaviors, attitudes/opinions, perceptions) and their needs/goals to help define the problem.
Evaluative research - Capture feedback on the existing experience today. How effective is it at meeting prospective student needs today? Where are there areas for opportunity/improvement?
Competitive analysis - Analysis compared to key competitors in the market.

For this position, we are looking for a Researcher with 5+ years of applied qualitative and quantitative research experience in a professional setting. The right candidate will be experienced in research methods, such as in-depth interviewing and usability testing, experienced with designing surveys and basic survey analysis, comfortable working with a remote team, and excited to collaborate with the Product team.
Minimum BA/BS degree in psychology, communication, statistics or other related field
Advanced degree in HCI or other behavioral or social sciences desired
5+ years of professional user research experience
Extensive experience with qualitative research methods
Understanding of quantitative research methods (e.g. surveying) and basic statistics
Detail-oriented, yet able to see the big picture and identify actionable insights from research
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to present clear, actionable results to different types of audiences
Ability to ask, and answer, meaningful and impactful questions
Ability to partner closely with Product counterpart
Ability to work as an extension of a remote team/organization
