Our client, a casual gaming company based in Seattle, is looking for a Character Animator to work on a new game. Character Animators are responsible for designing characters and creating movement for them in a way that will best aid the narrative and quality of the production. They will work with the rest of the animation team, as well as other departments, to best realize the Director’s vision and collaborate on how to meet the unique storytelling needs the production may demand. Teamwork, a strong sense of visual storytelling, and a core understanding of how character aesthetic aids fulfills a production’s potential, is essential to this position. It is also key that our character animators be able to work under the tight deadlines a production demands without compromising quality and creativity.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to create character designs and movements that aid in emotional storytelling.
Ability to plan and block animation in a way that best meets the narrative needs of the production.
Work within resource and time constraints of a production without compromising quality.
Work with Director and rest of animation team to give and receive constructive notes and implement them into your work.
Have a working knowledge of the software used by the animation team.
Work in feature animation
Working with motion capture
Extensive knowledge of Maya
Motion blending and using tools such as Time Editor in Maya or other equivalent 3D software
