Job Description

Social Activation Manager

Lead social activation strategy and execution of community of alumni, teachers, and community champions. Direct online advertising, live broadcast events, and community engagement to grow brand advocacy and meaningful brand experience. Direct agency outsources and internal direct reports to drive rapid acceleration of our fan base. Develop storytelling and content strategies that grow viewing audience and our database. Develop badging and credentialing strategies and execution plans to deliver brand value.

Essential Duties:

  • Own and grow companies social media strategy and execution, directing in-house resources and outside firms to meet growth objectives.

  • Lead online brand strategy, reputation management, and engagement.

  • Develop content strategies that attract engagement from our base.

  • Produce virtual events, directing in-house and outside resources to deliver high-quality interactive experiences that leverage video storytelling, thought leaders, and user-generated content.

  • Lead cross-functional teams (Interactive Design, Badging/Credentialing, Professional Learning, Events, and Creative Services) to collaboratively align goals and priorities.

  • Develop strategic partnerships that can advance our social activation goals.

  • Execute online presence with brand integrity, superior business judgment, and social/political sensitivity.

  • Partner with Marketing peers to collaboratively lead integrated marketing plans and content strategy.

  • Lead cross-functional input to editorial calendars, designing a collaboration process for Divisions, Learning Products, Programs and Services, and Executive Communications.

  • Define and communicate strategic objectives for social presence and guide broad understanding of our curation strategy.

  • Provide guidance and manage accountability of robust editorial calendars, with review and approval processes.

  • Contribute thought leadership, content, and digital expertise to public relations activities, helping to amplify all PR outreach.

  • Leverage social engagement as a listening post for market dynamics, community pulse, voice of the customer, for executive triage.

  • Formulate market research to deepen knowledge for decisions and actions related to products and services, brand management, and customer experience.

  • Educate stakeholders about how to enlarge their own digital reputation and followership, and activate the network effect of the community.

  • Develop marketing plans and growth plans for executive team input, review, and approval.

  • Make resourcing recommendations based on proof-of-concept testing and results.

  • Lead tracking and analysis of digital footprint and provide progress reports to Leadership.

  • As a leader within the marketing team, model good brand stewardship, and coach other team members on best practices for brand advocacy and brand stewardship.

  • Manage three direct reports.

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience developing marketing strategies and growth plans.

  • Track record of activating social engagement, followership, and social movements.

  • Strategic thinker.

  • Experience formulating and negotiating win-win strategic partnerships.

  • Tech-savvy, and knowledgeable about trends in digital learning and engagement, including mobile, social, gamification, and badging.

  • Creative execution with strong business acumen.

  • Knowledge of public relations strategies, media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.

  • Expert level understanding of social media strategies.

  • Experience managing direct reports and outside agencies/resources.

  • Experienced and skilled in navigating a highly matrixed organization.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and business planning skills.

  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Ability to work under pressure of deadlines to complete projects and tasks on time and maintain a high level of internal and external customer satisfaction while managing constant changes and multiple priorities.
