Job Description

One of our clients, a highly collaborative studio that places high value in the iterative process, is seeking a Creative Director to join their team!  The position is a temp to hire role and will be onsite in their Birmingham, MI office.  The creative director will work closely with the creative principal to determine the direction for projects and best way to deliver high value to clients, client customers and the agency itself.

 

****Qualified candidates will have significant experience in the physical environment, architecture, interior design, retail design, store design, shopping center design, restaurants, food halls, and pop ups as well as general customer experience.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Lead creative and strategic sessions for project kick-offs with project team, consultants and clients 
  • Manage multiple projects, setting the creative direction with the Creative Principal
  • Assure design integrity is maintained from concept through completion on all projects 
  • Develop creative programs and design concepts that meet the clients' business objectives and advance their brand strategy 
  • Supervise and inspire the creative team
  • Work with vendor partners, cultivating positive relationships
  • Work closely with the Creative Principal, the project team and strategy team to generate multiple viable concepts and present them to clients 
  • Cultural and professional Mentoring of the team; be an ambassador for the company 
  • Assure consistency, continuity and quality of all concepts and projects. 

 

Must Haves:

  • be a people-oriented leader
  • experience in the development and the direction of high-level concepts of design projects
  • the ability to communicate and “sell” designs 
  • a deep understanding of client needs and complex, ever-changing retail dynamics
  • undergraduate degree in Design, interiors, architecture or related field
  • at least 4 years management experience working with diverse scale retail projects of varying scope
  • a thorough understanding of industry best practices 
  • knowledge of retail layouts, architecture, interiors fundamentals and visual communications
  • must understand and have the ability to storyboard and translate ideas to designers.
