Job Description

The Manager, Email & SMS will develop and execute strategies that acquire, engage, nurture, and drive customer affinity. The manager will partner with cross-functional teams to develop customer-centric, campaign-specific targeted marketing programs that effectively deliver the right message to the right customer at the appropriate state in their consideration process in order to achieve business and marketing objectives. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• The overarching B2B and B2C email and SMS channel marketing strategy 
• Partnering with cross-functional teams to support all B2B and B2C email and SMS opportunities 
• Making campaign-level strategic decisions for support across email and SMS 
• Developing, executing, and optimizing acquisition and retention strategies, programs, and tactics to grow our email and SMS databases 
• Developing, deploying, and optimizing email, SMS, and marketing automation campaigns on an ongoing basis 
• Developing strategies to improve multichannel marketing maturity 
• Improving customer relationships by understanding customer preferences through first- and third- party data 
• Maintaining email and SMS databases and implementing list hygiene practices for optimal deliverability 
• Adhering to and advising on email and mobile marketing standards, processes and best practices 
• Reporting on campaign- and program-level results and providing insights and recommendations 
• Improving key performance indicators including active subscribers, open rates, click rates, opt-out rates, and conversions 
• Tracking, managing, and prioritizing work effectively to ensure internal deadlines, timetables and approvals are met 
• Managing relationships and budget with email and SMS marketing vendors 
• Delegating tasks to the Marketing Assistant, Media 


• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in marketing, communications, business, or related field 
• 4-6 years’ experience in email marketing campaign execution, implementation, testing, analytics and planning 
• 4-6 years leveraging an industry-leading marketing automation/CRM platform (i.e. Salesforce Marketing Cloud/ExactTarget, IBM/Silverpop, Marketo, or similar) 
• 2+ years planning, launching, and optimizing strategic acquisition, nurture, and retention programs a plus 
• Deep understanding of email marketing for both B2B and B2C audiences, including, but not limited to, email anatomy, key metrics, and A/B testing 
• Strong Excel skills, with an ability to rapidly digest and analyze data and accurately present results 
• Ability to provide measurement and reporting, including insights that increase program effectiveness 
• Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and vendors to deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment 
• Ability to track, manage, and prioritize work effectively to ensure internal deadlines, timetables and approvals are met 
• Basic HTML and SQL experience a plus
