Job Description

Summary

The Instructional Designer is responsible for creating engaging and effective training courses. This team member will work collaboratively with key stakeholders and Training team to develop strategic learning plans for standard and custom training courses by leveraging instructional design methodology. The ideal candidate is someone who believes training should motivate and support participants in their job responsibilities.  As part of a rapidly growing team, the Instructional Designer is expected to be self-motivated and highly driven to increase the knowledge of customers and employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product specialists, customers, and trainers to develop accurate, effective, and timely curriculum that meet internal and external needs
  • Define and develop training materials (presenter decks, instructor guides, exercises, job aids, and other supporting materials) for instructor-led, virtual and self-paced courses (materials will include the business need for Vistex software as well as the technical steps to implement and utilize the system at the customer’s site)
  • Produce design plans targeted to different audiences based on performance needs, which integrate appropriate media and variety of adult learning techniques
  • Create delta classes and update training material as new releases of software are rolled out using rapid development strategies
  • Apply sound project management and instructional design principles to motivates participants and leads project to conclusion
  • Facilitate course pilot and train-the-trainer sessions
  • Analyze existing training to identify end user needs and develop strategies to improve courses and documentation

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design or related area
  • At least 3 years of software training and material development experience
  • Knowledge of SAP or ERP software products; Sales and Distribution (SD) SAP module experience preferred
  • Experience applying instructional design principles appropriately to unique situations ensuring training objectives are met and project delivered on time
  • Ability to effectively lead projects including communicating with technical and non-technical team members who may be remote
  • Must be highly proficient in various Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint and Word
  • Demonstrated effective time-management and prioritization skills
  • Travel required to customer facility depending on training requirements (20-30%)
