Job Description

The Production Artist will be responsible for accurate file assembly, file and die management, creating mock-ups, photo retouching, developing renderings and on-time delivery of quality artwork for execution feasibility.

In addition, this position is also responsible for minor design assignments as well as collaborating with the Creative Director and Art Directors on a variety of new business efforts.

Duties & Expectations

  • Aligns and meets the needs of creative intent during the execution phase of artwork
  • Assists in developing line extensions and graphic options from approved concepts
  • Analyzes design in concept development for reproducibility through printing and supplier capability
  • Prepares and completes all final art files in compliance with supplier specifications and/or as instructed by client requirements
  • Ensures final art includes all verified inputs, brand equity elements and follows design intent: interfaces with internal teams for approvals
  • Assists in maintaining database of all graphic assets: photography, illustrations, technical drawing, logos and final art files
  • Makes all requested changes/corrections promptly and correctly
  • Required to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Prepares and tracks Epson and/or color prints for review by Production Manager, Creative Director, Designer, Account Exec, and Client
  • Reviews all work for accuracy
  • Provides technical support and assists in maintaining agency production/prepress related computer equipment, including but not limited to scanners, printers and related software
  • Maintains and expands working knowledge of design and illustration software
  • Actively seeks to continuously improve graphic skills and keep informed of industry trends in packaging, print and prepress technology, 3-D software, typography and web/interactive
  • Exhibits a team mentality and maintains a positive attitude in the work environment

Desired Skill Set:

  • Proficiency in full Adobe Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
  • Exceptional design/layout skills
  • Strong working knowledge of print technology: print processes, substrates, inks and prepress technologies
  • Working knowledge of technical drawings and general understanding of 3-D package manufacturing
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and strong project and time management skills
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
  • PowerPoint and presentation skills a plus
  • BA in Graphic Arts preferred

Color Expertise and Photoshop Skill Set:

•  Able to create and use adjustment layers

•  Able to create and use masks and paths in Photoshop

•  Able to perform extensive retouching

•  Able to work in a non-destructive manner

•  Working knowledge of spot color usage in Photoshop
