Job Description

A creative studio located in the Flatiron District is seeking a Copywriter to join their team!

  • Start: December
  • Duration: 6 months, possibility of going perm
  • ​Team: 5 people; 2 Senior Copywriter's, Creative Strategist, part-time Copywriter who handles proofreading and Director of Strategy/Content
  • ​Reason for opening: 1 Copywriter is taking leave, need coverage
  • ​Seeking someone who 50% has worked in advertising and 50% who has written for marketing
  • What an average week looks like: CW is writing a snappy headline and subhead for direct mail, writing social post for brand, then next day a mission statement, then writing a guideline or a toolkit or style guide, upfront for a presentation deck, etc
  • Mix of long and short form
  • Internal type of writing
  • Plus if you have another interest or writing skill (poetry, published playwright) level of appreciation for words
  • Someone who can be flex and write in diff voices, nuance of tone, not losing site of business objective
  • ​Schedule: ​will start off 3 days/week for first 2 weeks then will transition into full time hours
  • Writers touch everything with ALL of the clients
  • Biggest clients: AMEX and Sephora
  • Level: Senior; will have authority over projects. You could manage a freelance writer, but you will NOT be leading a team
  • Onsite
  • They are closed the week between Christmas and New Year’s
  • You will have a workstation, MAC users
  • ​Hours: 9:30-6:30

fWHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? A versatile, experienced copywriter who is able to capture the unique tone and voice of a range of clients and develop messaging for a variety of projects, including digital and print campaigns, guidelines, naming assignments, and complete brand refreshes.

  • Wordsmith with precise attention to detail and an excellent command of — and passion for — the English language 
  • Creative, hardworking individual with an interest in writing for a variety of audiences, brands, and industries, large and small 
  • Strategically minded conceptual thinker with a fresh voice who can use their creative vision to solve challenges and deliver innovative solutions 
  • Experienced professional who can effectively tell stories across multiple channels and mediums 
  • Talented writer and editor who understands, appreciates, and effectively communicates nuances of tone and voice  
  • Organized writer who is able to meet deadlines with ease while working on multiple projects 
  • Highly motivated individual who values collaboration and feedback, and is willing to go the extra mile to exceed expectations

WHAT YOU'LL DO. 

  • Work on projects through multiple stages, from the initial briefing and creative brainstorms, through internal and client reviews to completion of deliverables 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (project management, design, and strategy) to execute assignments across campaigns 
  • Brainstorm creative concepts with project teams to develop highly effective, creative communications, including exploring unexpected solutions 
  • Write fresh, engaging, and informative copy in a client’s brand voice that supports strategic insights and business objectives 
  • Take a nuanced approach to writing and editing for different tones, styles, and formats, across audiences 
  • Follow client’s copy standards and guidelines when executing concepts and messaging 
  • Develop, evolve, and codify voice and tone for a range of clients, including establishing new attributes and guidelines 
  • Ensure copy reflects the highest quality of work, and is in line with the client’s marketing goals 
  • Effectively incorporate internal and client feedback to revise and evolve copy, always moving the work forward and providing additional options when necessary 
  • Attend meetings and actively participate in client creative presentations as necessary 
  • Contribute to new business presentations and proposals as needed 
  • Work independently to meet tight deadlines as part of a creative team, and take ownership over the quality of your work, from concept to delivery
