Job Description

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer who is interested in becoming a part of our client's team. This position allows you the freedom to work from home but the consistency of steady work. We aren't necessarily looking to find someone who has experience in all of the areas mentioned in the job description below, but we are hoping to find someone committed to learning, growing, problem-solving and being a reliable member of the team. Ideally, this person would work east coast hours, or close to it. Key skills and competencies: 

  • Fluency in Javascript/JQuery, CSS, HTML5 
  • High comfort level with CMS implementation and PHP development 
  • Familiar with version control and continuous integration 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Self-directed and able to manage multiple ongoing projects 

Role and responsibilities include: 

  • Lead developer on all scripting and coding for presentation and behavior on public web properties managed by the Marketing and Communications office 
  • Solve UI and UX issues during design and development phases of projects 
  • Configure Cascade Server CMS templates, formats (XSLT and Velocity), site containers, data definitions, content types and output 
  • Create clickable prototype development for new projects 
  • Help manage web server redirects and campaign tracking URLs 
  • Provide support to clients and CMS users who encounter issues either on the public web site or in the CMS, in the form of training or direct content management as the need arises 
  • Utilize web governance tools to identify and mitigate QA, SEO, and Accessibility issues 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Digital Services on content management strategy, including  data definition design and content management workflow 
  • Manage and develop and CMS integrations with external data sources and destinations, such as  EMS MasterCalendar and MailChimp 
  • Utilize Cascade Server, PrinceXML, and web services scripting to manage the College’s online course catalogue and news archives as well as create an annual press-ready course catalogue  PDF document for registration. 
  • Web server document root maintenance and cleanup 
  • Improve and manage interactive features, such as forms and site search 
  • Update front-end technologies as the web evolves


  • Cascade Server CMS – Hannon Hill (utilizes XSLT 1 and Velocity formatting languages). 
  • L/A/M/P web server accessible via SSH over VPN – Ubuntu Linux 16.04 LTS / Apache 2 / MySQL 14.4 / PHP 7 with Composer 
  • Github for version control 
  • Google docs for systems documentation 
  • PrinceXML (CSS-powered XML parser that produces press-ready PDF documents) 
  • SiteImprove (web governance, QA) 
  • Google Analytics
