Job Description

Vitamin T is currently in search of a Creative Director for our client in Metro Detroit. This is a long term opportunity!

Job Summary: Responsible for all strategic and creative direction for a specific

group of accounts to include staff supervision and work production. Directs the

activities of subordinates to maintain the agency’s standards of creative

excellence, timeliness, and profitability, while achieving the clients’ goals.

Resolves functional conflicts through consultation with regional function

heads. An experienced presenter. Senior-level client contact. You will put our

cultural imperatives of honor, integrity, unity, strategic thinking and celebration

into daily action through your essential and marginal duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 Partners with Director of Creative Services and other CDs to analyze the

creative industry and marketplace to assess where our work stands against

competitors’ and trends

 Partners with Director of Creative Services and other CDs to ensure that our

creative product remains leading edge and ahead of our competition

 Ensures the timely development and execution of plan, campaigns, and

projects to assure earnings, growth, and profit goals are achieved.

 Manage creative development in partnership with AEs, PMs to help develop

accurate estimates and ensure that budgets are being met and accounts are

profitable.

 Provides leadership/motivation and conveys the vision and values of the

Agency to staff.

 Participates as needed in the strategic roundtables to assure appropriate

creative strategies, adequacy/accuracy of input, schedules, budgets,

production support, necessary reviews, and client presentations.

 Trains and supervises assigned staff of Associate Creative Directors,

Copywriters, Art Directors, Interactive Art Directors, Copy Editors, Content

Strategists and Graphic Designers; oversees their execution of all creative

efforts to insure they are on strategy, within budget, and on schedule.

 Keeps the account team leaders aware of the use of outside services and

materials to assure timely billing and to minimize write-offs.

 Recommend staffing and compensation changes.

 Assures the staff adheres to established agency policy/procedures, with

special emphasis on the purchase of outside services.

 Executes duties and assignments as directed in compliance with corporate

guidelines and objectives.

 Facilitates and promotes corporate initiatives and values throughout the

function.

 Participates as the lead in creative presentations.

 Develops thought-leadership content for the agency.

 Leads the team to develop campaigns, overseeing broadcast, digital and print

mediums.

 

MARGINAL DUTIES

 Work with business development team to develop new client RFP proposals.

 Contribute to the Agency

 Balance client demands with participation in broader agency initiatives.

 Develop strategic, and tactical, solutions and processes

 Implement and manage processes and workflows

 Partners with Account Service Supervisors/Directors to resolve differences

 Maintains external professional relationships to assure the ongoing

availability of specialized expertise and gifted freelancers when their services

are required.

 Develops and maintains strategic client relationships.

 For Production: Your role on a recording session will be to lead your

creative team. This may include directing the talent, engaging with the client

and providing direction to the audio engineer.

 For Production: Your role on a video or photography set will be to lead

and facilitate collaboration to help to unify the vision. You will manage the

relationship of the director to the client and creative team. You will be

responsible for the creative team and their role assignments on set.

 For Production: Your role in pre and post production needs to be

“hands on”, leading and collaborating with your creative team and

production team to achieve the desired outcome. This may include (but not

limited to): input for talent selection, motion graphics, music, directors,

editing, mixing and mastering.

 For Production: As part of the creative team, you will collaborate with

the production director to achieve the desired outcome, you will help to

assign your creative team members tasks and will be assigned tasks as

needed.

EXPERIENCE

 Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university

required

 5+ years of work experience as an ACD or CD

 Must have at least 4 years of Ad Agency experience

 Must have at least 3 years of supervisory experience

 Demonstrated success with digital and traditional marketing

 Knowledge of talent casting, print, radio and video production, proven

experience in selecting and working with resources (illustrators,

photographers, etc).
