The Web Content Specialist serves as a primary web resource within a specific academic or administrative division. As liaison and first point of contact with our client's Marketing & Communications (MarCom) department, the web content specialist assists with online marketing efforts and the successful production of content for the client's public website and intrane, ensuring adherence to brand standards and best practices. Along with web content and page creation, duties include participating in training, troubleshooting, and helping to train and support other content authors within the division. The successful candidate will have an eagerness to learn many aspects of web production, while utilizing and maintaining both client and web industry standards.
Demonstrated experience with content management systems, such as Cascade Server, Sitecore, Drupal, or WordPress
Basic understanding of how web pages are built; bonus points for familiarity with HTML and CSS
Ability to optimize images and content for web use
Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with division's administration, faculty and staff, as well as the central Marketing & Communications team
Willingness to learn and adapt to new software and technology
Serve as the primary web content editor for the division, working with administration, faculty, and staff to make updates to ensure content is fresh and accurate.
Update and maintain division's public website and intranet pages by: updating content and graphics; maintaining links; identifying and evaluating opportunities for improvement; monitoring performance and results; collaborating with MarCom as necessary.
Manage requests for content updates and approvals for the division.
Maintain universal access to sites by adhering to accessibility requirements in all pages and content published.
Maintain site’s professional appearance by following content and display guidelines.
Help train basic content authors such as faculty and staff how to use content management system.
Troubleshoot (and aids other content authors in the division in troubleshooting) basic web page display issues, escalating support needs to MarCom and/or ITS as necessary.
Strong written communication skills, with keen attention to detail
