Our University client is searching for a Senior Visual Designer to join a creative team of professionals for a 3 month contract (strong possibility of extension). The designer will conceive and design exciting, results-‐oriented online products for high-‐visibility, high-‐priority areas of the university.
The designer will ensure the overall quality of assigned projects, including the work of professional and student colleagues.
Interactive Design creates and manages websites and other digital products for many of the most high-‐ visibility departments and units of the university. This includes the daily online news and information website, all central development and alumni relations websites, online fundraising initiatives, university news and events websites, etc. This position directly influences the strength of the university’s brand and overall communications.
Creative / Design: Oversee interactive design projects from creative concept through launch, for
variety of clients including administrative, academic, and research units of the university. 45%
Creative Supervision: Supervise the work of collaborating team members to ensure that client and institutional branding objectives are achieved. This often includes working on tight deadlines. Prepare and present work to clients, as appropriate. 25%
Technical: Maintain a state-‐of-‐the-‐art understanding of current and emerging new media tools, relevant to the department’s needs. Participate in training workshops and share this knowledge with colleagues and others, as needed. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with the university's Information Technology staff who provide technical development and support for online products. 20%
Integration: Integrate the work of Interactive Design with other parts of Marketing & Communications (MarCom) and External Affairs as the university’s principal content manufacturing and distribution operation whose core functions are to (1) tell the university's story, (2) manage brand initiatives, and (3) provide marketing services and support to the university community. 10%
Qualifications (Minimum education & experience level required):
BA/BS or equivalent with minimum 5-‐ 8 years’ experience creating and improving online services through outstanding design.
Extraordinary oral and written communication skills.
Special consideration for candidates with experience in marketing/branding, information architecture, and/or technical development.
Requires flexibility and adaptability to new technology in a changing environment.
Direct experience with Windows and Mac platforms, Microsoft Office, and latest Adobe suite.
Proficiency with HTML, CSS, Knowledge of, or ability to learn, appropriate design and content management software.
