Vitamin of the Week: Sara El-Shami (Atlanta)

Sara El-Shami

No matter the season, the Atlanta job market is always blazing hot. And no one knows that better than our awesome agent Sara. When she’s not out exploring the alleys of Italy’s iconic Cinque Terre region, you’ll find her in The ATL helping the city’s creatives find the work they love.

From her favorite interview question to the brand she truly loves, find out what makes her tick by reading her answers to our 7 Quick Questions!

  1. Biggest myth about being a recruiters/staffing industry? A lot of candidates think that when they meet with a recruiter, their job search is over. Not true. While it’s every recruiter’s goal to meet with someone and instantly connect them with their dream job, that’s not the reality. It’s vital to work on a game plan together and establish next steps to achieving that goal. Some people may need to update their resume or portfolio. Others will need to take some classes to enhance their skills. The path is going to be different for everyone. But one thing’s for sure, meeting with your recruiter is the first step to finding a great match!

  2. What’s your favorite brand and why? Nike. I admire the clean, effortless look and feel of their brand. They’ve really mastered comfort and style, two of my favorite things. They’re also on the cutting edge of technology. It’s fantastic how my steps and activity feed right to my iPhone while I’m wearing shoes that are super light, environmentally friendly. Amazing.

  1. What’s your favorite interview question? “What is the biggest asset/skill set that you can bring to the table at a new company?” I usually ask this at the end of each interview, after we’ve covered their experience and background. It allows the candidate a chance to disclose any additional success stories, character traits, or a unique strength that they may not have covered before.

  2. What made you want to work at Vitamin T? And what do you love most about working here? When I was first introduced to Vitamin T, I was very unfamiliar with the company. I headed over to the website and was instantly captivated. I loved the look and could sense there was something special going on. And when I came in to the office for my interview, I KNEW I was somewhere special! My future coworkers were so friendly and passionate and spoke so highly of the company and its goals and initiatives that I knew immediately this was something I wanted to be a part of. I haven’t looked back since!

  3. What app do you use regularly that provides great user experience? No question, the Waze app. Being in Atlanta, traffic is a daily struggle. Waze allows you to interact with your local community to report traffic, accidents, and real time road updates to ensure you’re taking the most efficient route. By working together you’re able to find quickest routes, cheapest gas, and where the police may be hiding out (not that I would ever need that!) You also get to enjoy the fun quirky icons!

  1. What’s the BEST thing someone can do when looking for a job? It’s true what they say: NETWORK! Put yourself out there. Job searching can seem like a daunting task, but the best thing you can do is talk to friends and family and continue to grow your network. Ask people what they do and let them know your goals and vision. They may have an unknown connection that can help you. Networking events are also a great resource. is an exciting way to meet new people and have some fun!

  2. If you had to pick two celebrities to be your parents, who would they be? Victoria and David Beckham, of course! Victoria is a savvy businesswoman while David has established himself as a soccer icon. (Bend it like Beckham, anyone?) Despite their success, they always make their kids and family a priority. Who wouldn’t want to raid their mom’s closet one day and watch their dad in the World Cup the next?!
