Whether you know Emily as our tireless Indianapolis Market Manager, or as the Director of Volunteerism for local not-for-profit Indy Social Media, or even as that woman in blue loudly cheering on her Colts at a sports bar, you know without asking that Ms. Emily Trimble is a true fan of Indianapolis.

But there’s a few things we’re sure you DON’T know about her (like, her favorite interview question, for instance). So, check out the answers she gave to our 7 Quick Questions and get the whole Emily Trimble story!

  1. The biggest myth about being a recruiter? Having been a Vitamin T recruiter for 2 years before moving into my new role, I can tell you the biggest myth is that we don't know about the jobs we're trying to fill. I will tell you, we work diligently to make sure we understand every position we have open so we can make perfect matches.

  2. What’s the BEST thing someone can do when looking for a job? Don't give up! It can be a long process to find something new, but there IS something for you out there. Keep at it and you'll be able to find that perfect spot for yourself. Momentum is the key to a job hunt; the resumes you draft and the interviews you get will help you refine your search and grow as a professional.

  3. In your job, what’s been your favorite moment or biggest joy? It's tough to choose! One of my favorites, though, was when I was able to help one particular talent find a job. Then about a year later, I helped her husband find a new one, too. After placing the husband they emailed me to let me know that they'd be naming their first born after me, as a thank you. The name: Vitamin Emily, Jr.!

  4. What app do you use regularly that provides great user experience? Uber. It's simple and straightforward. There's nothing confusing about it whatsoever. Just call a car, get a ride, and you're done. If that’s not perfect user experience, I don’t know what is.

  5. What’s your favorite interview question? "What was the very first job you ever had?" I love to ask this question to get a feel for someone's drive. I find that people who started working in high school (or even earlier, as a babysitter or something similar) almost always have a stronger work ethic than someone whose first job was after they graduated college. And that’s a fact you won’t see on a resume or LinkedIn profile. Even if a candidate didn’t work when they were younger, you will still almost always hear an interesting answer, which will help you find a common interest not associated with the job at hand. Having that kind of bond during an interview will improve it dramatically.

  6. Best creative/digital event in your city? Creative Mornings only came to Indy about five months ago, but it has immediately become the to go-to event for creatives in town. Every month there are between 100 and 200 of Indy's best in one room. It rocks!

  7. If you had to pick two celebrities to be your parents, who would they be? Hopefully my parents are reading this, because I want them to know that I would never chose celebrities over them. Paparazzi and a life in the spotlight? No thanks, I'll keep Jeff and Alice.
