Vitamin of the Week: Cole Trotter (Los Angeles)

Cole Trotter

Since starting his career, Cole has pursued his passion for the marketing and creative. From his days as a marketing PM at an energy company to his ad production work at The Hollywood Reporter, he knows firsthand the pressure managers have to get projects done fast and right the first time.

Find out how to vet great talent and LA’s best digital creative event as he answers our 7 Quick Questions!

  1. What made you want to work at Vitamin T? And what do you love most about working here? I started out as a talent in Portland, OR. However, once I started realizing the types of companies Vitamin T works with and what they actually do day to day, I became interested in working as a staff member rather than a talent. My favorite part about working here is getting out and meeting with some of the most interesting tech/start-up companies LA has to offer. It’s also amazing to meet with and see all the work that goes into advertising for TV and movies.

  2. What app do you use regularly that provides great user experience? Although I use several apps that I think are great, I’d have to say the Mint app is by far the most user friendly. The UI is very easy on the eyes and in terms of usefulness, it’s really helped me track my spending and overall budget closely. Works as advertised!

  3. What’s your favorite interview question? “What do you consider your biggest weakness?” I like this question because it gives the interviewee the opportunity to create and articulate a solution all on their own. A lot of people aren’t fans of this question, but I think it gives the interviewee an excellent chance to set themselves apart if they answer it appropriately.

  4. Best creative/digital event in your city? Definitely TechWeek LA. They always feature the most prominent speakers in the industry. You also have the opportunity to meet people from all kinds of creative/tech backgrounds and companies. In 2014 they had over a hundred speakers and more than 300 companies participating. It’s huge!

  5. Who is your creative or digital hero? I would probably have to say Jeff Bezos. He is arguably the most influential and successful leader in the online retail industry. The guy continuously figures out new ways to adapt his business to the constantly changing tech climate.

  6. If you had to pick two celebrities to be your parents, who would they be? It would have to be Louis CK and Tina Fey. They're not only hilarious, but incredibly motivated and smart.

  7. What’s the name of the last book you read? The Millionaire Next Door. I like how it illustrates that wealth isn't necessarily tied to things we can see at first glance: cars, clothes, etc. Most of these millionaires live way below their means and ignore conspicuous consumption. A great read.
