The people have spoken!
On our recent Facebook poll we asked what YOU thought was the single most beautiful new or redesigned site in 2014. (And if you haven’t joined us on Facebook, this is exactly the kind of fun stuff you’ve been missing in your life.)
Without any further ado, here are the results are in from our incredibly (un)scientific survey:
#5. VIRGIN AMERICA
With a landing page that cuts right to the chase (booking your trip), the revamped Virgin America site is a UX Designer’s dream. Take it for a spin to see just how gracefully you can get from point A to point B. (The choice of your own seat avatar is genius.)
Founded by Twitter co-founders Evan Williams and Biz Stone, this terrific social journalism site continues to expand its reach exponentially. A smartly simple platform, each poster’s story shares the same beautiful layout. (Caution, once you start sharing, their addictive design will have you hooked!)
To accompany Pharrell Williams’ infectious song, the 24 Hours of Happy site allows you to use a clock to time-scroll through 24 hours of singing, dancing, and non-stop silliness. We don’t consider that a bad way to spend a day.
Maybe it’s not so ironic this site garnered such a huge volume of votes. Making it onto a number of Best of 2014 lists, digital agency Huge pulls off brains, brawn, and of course, beauty with aplomb.
And the drum roll please, for NUMBER ONE....
#1. FLAT VS. REALISM
Our winning site illustrates just how much we all love a good smackdown. It’s a hilarious documentation of the most important online battle of 2013: flat design vs. realism. Now that they’ve won awards from the Webbys, W3, and Awwwards we’re wondering what its creator, inTacto Digital Partner has in mind for a follow up for 2014.
