We first heard about Rachel Andrew’s free Learn Grid Layout Video Series from Mozilla’s design advocate Jen Simmons, who wrote in a recent post, “People are starting to ask: where can I learn about CSS Grid?....When it comes to the technical how-to, most of what’s out there was written by Rachel Andrew.”
We know Rachel as one of the longtime An Event Apart presenters (which is one of the many cool things about partnering with AEA). She’s been working on the web since 1996 (not a typo), is an Invited Expert to the W3C on the CSS Working Group, a Google Developer Expert, a regular columnist for A List Apart, and the author of two books: “Get Ready for CSS Grid Layout” and “HTML5 for Web Designers,” so she knows her stuff.
If you’re interested in starting to learn CSS grid, you should definitely start with her videos.
And when you’re ready for more, you’ll want to check out the rest of her Grid by Example site, an amazing resource that includes usage examples, a gallery of common layouts, and a polished course on all the CSS you need to know to hand-code layout. (OK, that last one does cost money, but a woman needs to eat, right?)
But let’s just start with her Learn Grid Layout Video Series, then take it from there.
