Our client in San Mateo is looking for a Project Manager, 40 hours per week, through early 2017. Position is on-site in Downtown San Mateo, adjacent to Caltrain station. Some days may be remote.
Client is currently going through a few major projects including rebranding of its website and changing its business model and software from B2C to B2B (most important).
We are looking for an experienced project manager to oversee all aspects of a major product release for CLIENT, including scheduling, coordinating and communicating about all interim releases, as well as the final release. You will work closely with all department heads to create and manage a communication calendar for both internal and external audiences that includes training, blog posts, self-help content, client-preparation emails, and press releases.
You will also assist with managing related projects and interdependencies to ensure all milestones are hit on time.
This is a full-time contract position that is slated to end after the successful release in early 2017, with possible extensions as either part-time or full-time.
Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality
Measure, monitor, and report on progress to ensure all deliverables are met on time and within budget, while meeting or exceeding expectations
Coordinate release content and effort based on the product roadmap, pending service requests, and unforeseen needs resulting from sales or trade show activity
Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes
Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations
Submit Release Readiness and Milestone Reviews on a weekly basis
Produce Deployment, Play Books and Communication Plans
Negotiate, plan, and manage all release activities
Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
Lead and coordinate all Go-Live activities including the execution of the Deployment and Communication Plans for both internal and external audiences
Experience and Expertise:
3-5 years of previous release and/or project management experience, with a solid understanding of project management principles, tools, and techniques
Formal training in project management practices preferred
Some knowledge of software development lifecycle preferred
Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must

Client makes professionally animated videos for businesses.
-Preferred if candidate has experience releasing new software
