  1. Favorite social network & why? Linkedin. Its hard for me to recall a time before Linkedin. It's such an integral part of our business and it such a valuable tool to brand one's self. Sure, its useful in looking for a job. But its also useful for looking for business opportunities, Information on structures with companies. and access to a network of people that one can learn from. All you have to do is find them!
  2. Number one mistake people make when hiring a creative? Not working with Vitamin T!
  3. Best way for freelancers to market themselves on social media? Have a personal brand and let it be known you have a specialty. "Wearing many hats" isn't the message you want to convey, even if its true. Whether its Twitter, Linkedin, or a professional page on Facebook, use those networks as way to define what you do and the value you bring to your particular niche.
  4. What’s the BEST thing you can do when you’re looking for a job? Prepare your success stories. Always be prepared with at least 3-4 examples of projects you've been involved with, your role within the project, and the result. Which means, have metrics to talk about. Whether you are a digital marketer or designer, your efforts lead to some sort of measurable result. Know them!
  5. Advice for freelancers to make their first day a successful one? Ask smart questions. And don't assume anything.

  7. Best tips for a making a great LinkedIn profile? Make it current and "livable." Which means add posts, join groups, follow companies, get recommendations and make it SEO friendly with the keywords that will get you noticed. Linkedin is more than an online resume. It's your own personal professional web page. So make sure you let the end user know what you are currently doing and how valuable you are.
  8. Tips for making a compelling portfolio? Group projects together by type and not by client. Make it clean and not distracting. But still use it as a tool to demonstrate your capabilities. Are you a responsive web design designer? Then make your portfolio responsive.
  9. Best creative/digital event in your city? Seattle Tech Meetup.
  10. Biggest mistake people make on their resumes? Putting pictures on them! I’m not sure why this is becoming more of a trend, but it’s not a very smart one. It’s a way to assure that your resume will end up in the recycle bin or deleted without a glance. Please don’t do it.
  11. Guilty song pleasure? "We Built This City" by Starship.
